When Turning 50 Isn't So Bad

If you're inclined to go on a bender and really want to do it in style, this will get you into the Guiness Book of World Records. The Glenfiddich 50 year Old Whisky is now available.  Unveiled in July 2009 it gracefully aged in the chill and darkness of Warehouse No. 8 at Glenfiddich for the past 5 decades plus.  The first casks were laid down between 1937 and 1939.

Glenfiddich descibes the tasting notes on this little number as "very sweet with a zesty orange marmalade and vanilla toffee, which then cascades through a wonderful series of layers: aromatic herbs, floral and soft fruits, silky oak tannin and hints of gentle smoke".  Whaaa

Now don't get too excited just yet.  You can't pick this up at the Liquor Land drive-through.  However, you can savour it by the glass at New York’s Mandarin Oriental, Miami’s Fontainebleau, and the Peninsula Hotel in Los Angeles.  Oh and bring the Black Card baby...it's $800 a glass.  Cheers
